The area between Warngau and Gmund is located on the former edge of glacier ice and therefore is marked with wavy, uneven surfaces. The Hofoldinger forest dominates as a large wooded area. Typical are the well restored village communities such as Reitham, Einhaus or Festenbach with their tradition and natural beauty.
Culture
On the trail there are three reference points: in Holzkirchen one can enjoy a break at the crossover of the old Roman road. At Oberwarngau the pilgrimage church Allerheiligen with many votive tablets and three altarpieces by the Munich baroque painter Johann Dengler is worthy of contemplation – for centuries it has been a goal for pilgrimage and processions. And last, but not least, one should visit the late gothic small church St. Valentin in Bergham, built in 1523 and still an impressive edifice.
Recreation and Health
For the short recovery the Mangfalltal has many offers : A quick refreshment in the sparkling Mangfall in its lovely valley makes even tired biker’s calves lively again. In Holzkirchen, one should take more time for the leisure time swimming pool, “Batusa”. And for those who wish to make a prolonged stay in the alpine foothills, there are numerous possibilities for “holidays on the farm”. Simply observe the signs, stop, and view the premises.
Dining
Game specialties, Bavarian small meals, or Schweinshaxn – many of the farms supply directly to the pubs. Quality and freshness are guaranteed in this direct marketing of local products.

Sights
Even the longest stage on the via Bavarica Tyrolensis deserves an extension. For example, a trip to the lookout mountain ” Taubenberg near Warngau. Or to the organ museum in Valley, the largest organ collection in the world, found within the medieval castle. You may wish to visit the culture center Waitzinger Keller in Miesbach, the swimming paradise at the Hackensee in Holzkirchen or the horse stud and riding ranch in Thann. There you can change saddles, if only for a brief time.
